When Hailey comes to the end of her disciplinary session, her relief will sometimes become tears. The entire session for her disobedience, her shame, her feeling of letting herself (and me) down, was like a massive, emotional exhaling. The sting of that split tailed tawse on her burning bottom, being wettened with coolness, before the continued burn, was a lasting memory this day. As her tears stained her face and her bottom throbbed, I knew she desperately needed a hug for forgiveness. The perfect ending to a day of self-reflection and punishment.
